ABOUT CLEAN TOWELS

WHAT ARE CLEAN TOWELS?

The Clean Towels are our original creation. They are the world's first single-use, biodegradable, and ultra-soft facial towel. This dry towel is made of premium viscose sourced from sustainable eucalyptus plantations. The Clean Towels have multiple uses but are primarily used to dry your face after cleansing for a bacteria-free towel each time. Use wet as a cleansing cloth paired with your cleanser, and with makeup removing balms, oils, and face masks for additional exfoliation.

WHY CLEAN TOWELS?

Towels are way more disgusting than you might think! Bathroom towels- whether they're a body towel, hand towel, or face towel- are full of bacteria, even viruses. Due to the environment they hang out in (your bathroom), towels offer the perfect scenario for bacteria and other microorganisms to grow. In research conducted by Charles Gerba at the University of Arizona, it was found that 90% of the towels in the study carried coliform bacteria, and 14% had e-coli.. Ew! Over a course of three days, the bacteria multiplied 10-fold. “So, just think about it. You wash your hands and you dry it in the towel and then maybe you had some ecoli or salmonella on there and they get into the towel. It's wet. It's moist. They grow. You may start out with a few, but in a few days you've got millions is what we found out. After about two days, if you dry your face on a hand towel, you’re probably getting more E. coli on your face than if you stuck your head in a toilet and flushed it.” Gerba states in his study.

This research was the fuel to our invention. We created the Clean Towels to optimize your skincare routine and ensure your skin stays as clean as possible after you do all the hard work of washing it!

Can the Clean Towels be reused?

Yes, the Clean Towels can be reused. Their fabric remains strong when wet and is durable enough to be gently wrung out. To reuse: rinse them by hand, and hang them to dry. Once dried the fabric will remain soft and pliable. However, we do not recommend reusing them for skincare. If you are making direct contact with your skin, the Clean Towel should then be tossed and not reused. Quick tip- after you dry your face with a Clean Towel, wipe the excess water off of your counter before throwing them out!

How are the Clean Towels different than paper towels?

The fabric of Clean Towels is different than the fabric of paper towels. The Clean Towels are made from premium viscose. This fabric is much softer, more absorbent, and has a slight stretch. This in combination of the unique interwoven pattern of the fabric creates a much more durable towel that does not tear. In fact, it takes a great deal of effort to try and tear one apart! For skincare, the Clean Towels are significantly more gentle on your skin than a paper towel or bathroom towel. Although paper towels are fine in the kitchen, they are not gentle to the skin on your face.

How are the Clean Towels sustainable if they are disposable?

Clean Skin Club acknowledges the importance of environmentally friendly products and manufacturing procedures. Our Clean Towels, along with our other hygiene products, are 100% biodegradable and compostable. We do not use any additive chemicals or fabrics in the Clean Towels that do not biodegrade easily. Viscose fabric completely biodegrades within roughly 6 weeks. While personal waste methods vary, we strongly recommend that you either compost or recycle the Clean Towels. Is there a fragrance?

No, the towels are not made with fragrance. In fact, because of this, some people may notice a distinct smell when first opening the box. This is the smell is actually not from the Clean Towels themselves, rather, the packaging and nylon wrap it comes in. Once the box is opened, the initial smell will fade within a day.
